Daniel Nesci is an Australian-born producer and mix engineer. With over 14 years as a guitarist and six years as a producer, his career has spanned various roles, from recording guitar in a progressive metal project to collaborating with audio companies on product launches for brands like Walrus Audio, GFISystems, and Revv. He has produced music for advertising campaigns, including campaigns for Jeep and has written for esteemed publishing houses namely Lyric House LA. Daniel has collaborated domestically and internationally with Grammy-nominated and ARIA-winning peers by the likes of Simon Cohen and Konstantin Kersting.

How did you get to know Trinnov?
Initially, I was told about the NOVA by a trusted friend within the industry. I took a gamble on purchasing this without hearing its effects in real life but had people telling me it’s changed their entire approach. I read a variety of forums and watched extensive breakdowns on Trinnov before my purchase.
People’s main criticism seemed to be the high-end price tag in comparison to other room correction solutions. After experiencing the Trinnov, I’d say there are no competitors, just alternatives that will eventually lead you to Trinnov if you’re serious about your sound.
What was your experience getting set up with the NOVA?
From unboxing the compact 1U rack space device, completed by a 3D microphone and La Remote, every step indicated a new calibre of sophistication for my studio. After calibrating the ATC SCM25A Pro Mk2 pair with the Trinnov desktop application, the depth of customization became apparent. I knew within the first few hours I was exploring the unit that I’d barely scratched the surface of moulding my studio sound.
There are some practical considerations when integrating NOVA into your studio. A reliable ethernet connection is needed for calibration, ongoing adjustments, and firmware updates. I had strict internet firewalls but with the help of the Trinnov team, they showed me a solution to share the network via my laptop which solved my problems. For those who don’t know, the Trinnov system gives you the ability to upgrade your NOVA system from a base of 2 channels, up to 6 channels, I purchased 4 channels to give me options of either 2 pairs of speakers or a pair plus subwoofer set which I am yet to decide.
How did your first calibration go? What were your first impressions about the sound?
My first calibration with the ATC SCM25A Pro Mk2 was very smooth. I had an audio friend in the studio with me that day, so I opted to do the multi-position mic calibration. That was one of the suggested options and then after that did a single calibration at my listening position. It was very intuitive and the process was easy for me as someone who hasn’t been utilizing physical rack gear for very long.
At a later date, I had a member of the Trinnov team patch into my unit and sculpt my presets even further which enhanced the sound of the room again.
Would you recommend NOVA to other music producers?
The NOVA should be considered a worthwhile investment. The device's ability to transform mixing and mastering processes by providing a true sound representation justifies its cost. The investment in NOVA equates to superior sound quality and more informed audio production decisions, essential for delivering quality to clients.
